Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla) got scolded like a temper tantrum-throwing child on Monday during an impeachment hearing held by the House Judiciary Committee for desperately trying to derail the proceedings in defense of President Donald Trump.

House Republicans demanded that this hearing be postponed in an effort to delay and obstruct. But when they did not get their way, they decided to delay and obstruct during the hearing itself, with Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) yelling about procedure like a mad man. Other Republicans attempted to do the same but were shut down by House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), only for Gaetz to throw his own tantrum about rules, the same rules Republicans adopted when they controlled the House.

“I have a parliamentary inquiry,” Gaetz whined, trying to gum up the works.

“I will not recognize a parliamentary inquiry at this time,” Nadler responded.

“Is this when we just hear staff ask questions of other staff?” Gaetz continued. “The members get dealt out of this whole hearing for the next four hours! You’re going to try to overturn the result of an election with unelected people.”

“The gentleman will suspend,” Nadler sternly replied while gaveling the room to silence. “The gentleman will not yell out and will not attempt to disrupt the proceedings.”

Gaetz is clearly putting on a show to impress Trump, who is watching the hearing while tweeting out “witch hunt” accusations.

But Americans were not impressed with Gaetz acting like a petulant child, which is why they mocked him in response, especially after he walked out of the hearing, thus surrendering his chance to question witnesses.

This isn’t the first time Gaetz has engaged in sleazy tactics for Trump during the impeachment. He once got booted out of a hearing he had no business attending because he sneaked in to gather intel for Trump as his spy. And that’s on top of the conspiracy theories he has been peddling ever since impeachment hearings began.

It’s obvious that Gaetz does not care about the facts of the case against Trump. He only cares about protecting Trump no matter what because he’s his meal ticket. Florida does not have a representative. They have a boot-licker who puts himself over the people.
