First Lady Melania Trump’s “Be Best” anti-bullying campaign is designed to shed light on the dangers of hateful words and actions which can lead young people to despair and even suicide, and yet just this week Mrs. Trump defended her husband’s hateful Twitter attack on climate change activist Greta Thunberg, who won Time magazine’s Person of the Year honor.
Specifically, the president posted this on his Twitter feed shortly after Thunberg was announced as Person of the Year for 2019:
So ridiculous. Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill! https://t.co/M8ZtS8okzE

And yet, when the First Lady’s office was reached for comment on her husband’s tweet, the White House press office issued this statement:
“BeBest is the First Lady’s initiative, and she will continue to use it to do all she can to help children. It is no secret that the President and First Lady often communicate differently – as most married couples do.
“Their son (Barron) is not an activist who travels the globe giving speeches. He is a 13-year-old who wants and deserves privacy.”
Translation: Do as I say, not as I do.
During an appearance on MSNBC, Jill Biden, wife of former Vice President Joe Biden, noted that it’s never right to attack a child for any reason whatsoever, no matter what that young person has to say on controversial issues:
“That’s bullying. Look at what the president did this week with that 16-year-old girl, Greta. You can’t attack children. That’s the bottom line.”
The double standard which exists in this administration at every level is astounding. They want to preach at other while at the same time they engage in the very behavior they’re so fond of railing against in order to advance their own right-wing agenda.
Bullying is wrong in any form. The fact that Melania Trump doesn’t understand that proves that she too is complicit in her husband’s disgusting attacks.
