During the debate in the House of Representatives Wednesday prior to a vote on two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, a Republican congressman claimed that Trump had been treated worse than Jesus when he appeared before Roman governor Pontius Pilate.
Specifically, Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), remarked:
“When Jesus was falsely accused of treason, Pontius Pilate gave Jesus the opportunity to face his accusers. During that sham trial, Pontius Pilate afforded more rights to Jesus than the Democrats have afforded this president in this process.”

As if the GOP cult of personality when it comes to Donald Trump wasn’t already a fait accompli, we now have an equivalence being made between the biggest crook to ever sit in the White House and Jesus Christ.
It didn’t take long for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) to remind Congressman Loudermilk about a verse from the Bible he’d do well to memorize:
Romans 1:25. https://t.co/sRtYpoTN5h

The verse cited by AOC, Romans 1:25, reads:
“They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator — who is forever praised.”
And that was all it took for others on Twitter to join in condemning both Congressman Loudermilk and Trump, who has now been impeached on two separate articles, only the third president in U.S. history to hold such a hollow honor:
Let’s compare Trump to Jesus:
Jesus fed the poor
Trump cuts food stampsJesus clothed the naked
Trump grabs em by pussyJesus embraced foreigners
Trump puts them in cagesJesus cared for the sick
Trump cuts healthcareJesus died for your sins
Trump embodies all 7 deadly sins— Ryan Knight ?️?? (@ProudResister) December 18, 2019
Republicans: why can’t anti-Christian liberals say ‘Merry Christmas’?
Also Republicans: Trump has suffered more than Jesus Christ. https://t.co/VkrtYel1JO

Ok Trump’s impeachment has just been compared to the trial of Jesus–yeah, that one. I’m going to have another gin & tonic now. A little less tonic this time. #impeachment #GOPCrazy

About all that’s left for Congressional Republicans at this point is to insist that Christmas be renamed Trumpmas and suggest that instead of giving gifts to each other, we all go grab someone by the genitals.
