Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley told an outright lie to smear Democrats during an appearance on Fox News Monday night, which drew immediate backlash.

While desperately defending President Donald Trump’s order to assassinate Iranian General Qasem Suleimani with Sean Hannity, Haley claimed that Democrats and Democratic presidential candidates are mourning him, a quote she repeated on Twitter with video.

Of course, Democrats have done no such thing. They have pointed out that Trump acted without informing or consulting Congress as required by the war Powers Act and they have objected to an action that may have just sparked a major war that will spill the blood of thousands of Americans. Democrats are also rightfully suspicious of the timing because the news of Suleimani’s death and the escalation of hostilities against Iran have knocked impeachment out of the news cycle, which Trump apparently thinks benefits his 2020 re-election campaign.

In addition, Democrats are outraged by Trump’s threats to commit war crimes against Iran.

But again, Democrats are not in mourning for Suleimani, a fact that many Twitter users informed Haley while slamming her remarks.

Nikki Haley owes Democrats a public apology. She is accusing them of being unpatriotic and un-American in order to defend Trump’s reckless push for war, a tactic Republicans used to defend the Iraq War. No one is mourning Suleimani, but killing him was a bad idea and was done for the wrong reasons.
