As his Senate impeachment trial draws closer, President Donald Trump is lashing out again at Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), retweeting a meme which depicts the two top Democrats as Muslims.

A screenshot of the meme, just in case it gets removed from Twitter
Of course, this shouldn’t surprise anyone. After all, it was Trump who helped spread the birther lies against former President Barack Obama and even called Obama “the founder of ISIS” at campaign rallies in 2016.
Trump’s objective, it would seem, is to paint himself as the savior of Iran thanks to his assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, even though the move may well lead to unintended consequences such as increased terrorist attacks, fraying relations with our traditional allies, and speeding up the building of a nuclear weapon by Iran.
Here’s some of the reaction to Trump’s disgusting retweet of the Pelosi-Schumer meme:
Trump cares sooooo much about Iranians that he has banned them ALL From America. In fact 14 Iranian families are suing the Trump administration for the hardships and “unbearable burdens” they’ve experienced stemming from Trump’s travel ban. https://t.co/QHAqBpyVGO

Trump proves daily how unfit for office he is. How can we take the POTUS seriously when he thinks tweets like these are appropriate for him to retweet?#Disgusting

Any answers Donald?
No wonder your Press Secretary is afraid of questions, so many contradictions in your stories.https://t.co/k1yvMcu4UM

I mean wow, he’s straight up retweeting racism and marginilzing of people now.
The musk of desperation is so strong here, I can smell it through the internet, halfway across the country.
