President Donald Trump went on a Twitter rampage on Saturday night and took particular aim at New York in a tantrum that completely undermined his border wall and his views on climate change.

Ever since Trump took office he has been a climate change denier and has demanded a wall on the southern border.

Experts have frequently pointed out that walls don’t work to stop illegal immigration and won’t stop drugs from entering the country. The wall Trump wants is also costly with a price tag reaching the tens of billions of dollars all while being an environmental hazard to boot.

At the same time, scientists have been warning coastal states to prepare for the devastating effects of climate change, which include stronger hurricanes and worse flooding due to rising sea levels.

Well, New York is working to protect New York City from this flooding, which is why they are proposing the construction of a sea wall.

Despite being a longtime resident of New York, Trump attacked the state for considering the idea and rejected it before the Army Corps of Engineers even delivers a report on it to Congress.

Here’s the thing. Trump literally just declared that a massive wall won’t work and that such a project is too expensive and environmentally unfriendly, the very same problems experts have with Trump’s border wall.

Furthermore, Trump overstated the cost of the project, which is estimated at $119 billion, far less than $200 billion. Someone also ought to tell Trump that the stock market is located in New York City, the same stock market he frequently brags about. A superstorm could very well wipe it out without a sea wall in place.

Speaking of a sea wall and climate change, Trump had no problem citing climate change as a reason why his Ireland golf course should be shielded by a sea wall when he applied for the permit to build one in 2016.

Seriously.

According to Politico:

[Trump] is applying for permission to erect a coastal protection works to prevent erosion at his seaside golf resort, Trump International Golf Links & Hotel Ireland, in County Clare.

A permit application for the wall, filed by Trump International Golf Links Ireland…explicitly cites global warming and its consequences — increased erosion due to rising sea levels and extreme weather this century — as a chief justification for building the structure.

And telling New Yorkers to get their mops and buckets ready suggests that he knows full well that climate change is real. But it’s still an insult to New Yorkers and you can bet they hate him even more now because it’s clear he doesn’t care about them, just like he doesn’t care about the hell Puerto Rico is going through.

Trump’s entire tweet is drenched in hypocrisy, stupidity, and contempt for millions of Americans, and you can add it to the ever-increasing list of reasons why he is unfit for office.
