Now that we know Russia is acting to assure that President Donald Trump is reelected in November, the gang at Fox News has shifted into conspiracy theory overdrive, trying to convince their viewers that it’s the Democrats who are actually working for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In other words, accuse the other side of that which you’re guilty of.
Fox contributor Sara A. Carter had this to say Friday night on “Hannity”:
“Russia wants to sow chaos, right? And think about this, they don’t even need to worry about the Kremlin, the GRU, or their agents. They have their agents right here in the United States that are buying their chaos hook, line, and sinker.”
Carter was far from finished, however:
“They just put something out there and we see the Democrats, the anti-Trump media jumping on board dishing out disinformation coming straight from Russia. That includes Hillary Clinton, John Brennan, Eric Holder, and anyone else in the media that wants to dish out Russian disinformation, so if there is anybody on Russia’s like payroll, so to speak, it’s them. It’s not anybody around Donald Trump.”
It’s not anyone around Donald Trump? Really?! How many members of Trump’s 2016 campaign met with Russian nationals? There was campaign chairman Paul Manafort, Jared Kushner, Donald Trump Jr., Michael Flynn, and numerous others. And then we have Trump himself meeting with the Russian ambassador and foreign minister in the Oval Office shortly after he was inaugurated.
Also, let’s not forget that Fox News itself has been actively helping spread Russian talking points, conspiracy theories, and Kremlin propaganda. And yet now they want to accuse Democrats of being in bed with Russia? If the stakes weren’t so high in November, this entire thing would be so absurd as to be laughable.
This is galactic level stupidity. Sara says if anyone is on Russia’s payroll, it’s Democrats, the media, Hillary Clinton, Eric Holder, John Brennan, and “Chris O’Donnell” pic.twitter.com/NU79DFDrbU
