As the coronavirus pandemic sweeps the country and kills more Americans along the way, Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) is busy not doing his damn job and making the crisis worse by downplaying the danger.
Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has already sent the Senate home for the weekend. So while House Democrats worked late over the weekend to pass a crucial coronavirus emergency bill, Cornyn was sitting on his a** on the taxpayer dime.
Specifically, he was drinking a Corona beer and pretending the pandemic isn’t a big deal.

This particularly enraged humanitarian and celebrity Chef José Andrés, who responded by appropriately ripping Cornyn a new one.

People have been panicking because of the terrible response to the outbreak from the beginning by the Trump administration and Republicans in Congress who sought to minimize the severity of the crisis and failed to prepare properly for it before it came to our shores. Many Republicans have even been going into hiding instead of taking actions that will truly help America weather the pandemic. Cornyn is one of the highest-ranking Republicans in the Senate. He should have been pushing McConnell to pass earlier legislation passed by the House that would have gotten help to Americans sooner. Instead, he did nothing, and he’s still doing nothing as evidenced by his photo.
