One of the provisions in the coronavirus relief bill that Democrats have fought hardest to protect involves the expansion of voting by mail across the country. Doing so would eliminate the need for waiting in line or among a crowd of people and reducing the risk of spreading COVID-19 to others while casting a vote.

But Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) says that allowing people to vote by mail would be the end of the United States as we know it.

Yes, he actually said that, even posting it on Twitter for the entire world to see:

The end our republic as we know it? If you were looking for proof that Republicans don’t want people to vote, Congressman Massie just provided it.

Massie’s ludicrous declaration was met with ire and mockery on social media:
