Now that he’s feeling the heat from his numerous missteps in dealing with the COVID-19 crisis, President Donald Trump is now lashing out at Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), calling her a “sick puppy” because she dared to point out his bumbling when it comes to getting needed equipment to hospitals across the United States.
On Sunday, during an appearance on CNN, Pelosi noted that Trump’s denial of the dangers posed by coronavirus when it first appeared in the U.S. “was deadly.” She added:
“When he made the other day when he was signing the bill, he said just think 20 days ago everything was great. No, everything wasn’t great.
“We had nearly 500 cases and 17 deaths already. And in that 20 days because we weren’t prepared, we now have 2,000 deaths and 100,000 cases.”
That led Trump to call into “Fox & Friends” Monday morning and comment:
“It’s a sad thing. She’s a sick puppy in my opinion. She’s got a lot of problems.”
The president also said that Pelosi had wasted valuable time on impeaching him:
“I think it’s a disgrace to her country, her family. What a horrible statement to make.
“All she did was focus on impeachment. She didn’t focus on anything having to do with pandemics. And she lost and she looked like a fool.”

However, it was Trump who eliminated the pandemic response team that had been assembled during the Obama administration. Trump also made significant cuts to the budgets for crisis preparation, which many experts say may have allowed COVID-19 to spread faster and further than it would have had a plan been in place to deal with medical emergencies.
As he so frequently does, Trump is engaging in classic psychological projection, attempting to accuse others of the things he knows he’s guilty of.
