President Donald Trump became instantly defensive and racist on Sunday during his daily coronavirus press conference/campaign rally after a black reporter challenged him by using his own words.
Earlier this in the week, Trump talked to Sean Hannity and suggested the New York is faking the number of coronavirus cases and doubted they need as many ventilators as the state has requested.
PBS White House correspondent Yamiche Alcindor sought to ask Trump about his accusation that the state is somehow lying. Rather than be held accountable, Trump attacked Alcindor by falsely accusing her of threatening him and being disrespectful. He then referred to her and another black reporter as “you people.”
“That’s why you used to work for the Times and now you work for somebody else,” Trump sneered. “Why don’t you people act a little more positive? Don’t be threatening. Be nice.”

My Q is on Trump saying this about governors on Thursday: “I have a feeling that a lot of the numbers that are being said in some areas are just bigger than they are going to be. I don’t believe you need 40,000 or 30,000 ventilators.” https://t.co/bska84ZFPs

In no way was Alcindor anything but respectful when she asked a legitimate question. Indeed, it was Trump who was disrespectful with a touch of racism one step away from blurting out the N-word.
Trump can lash out at the media in a desperate effort to distract and deflect all he wants, it doesn’t change the timeline of this crisis and the fact that he has responded poorly to it from the start. Had he taken it seriously, states and hospitals would have been prepared and we would have been ahead of the virus before it had even arrived on American soil. Instead, the virus is ravaging our country and health professionals are playing catch-up as the death toll rises. He should be ashamed of his racist bloviations.
