Based on a retweet from President Donald Trump on Sunday, it appears that infectious disease specialist Dr. Anthony Fauci has fallen out of favor with the White House and may be on his way out.

The retweet from Trump was of a posting made by failed right-wing California congressional candidate DeAnna Lorraine:

Fe sure and note the hashtag used by Lorraine, too: #FireFauci.

As HuffPost notes, it appears that an interview Fauci gave to CNN on Easter Day didn’t sit well with the notoriously thin-skinned Trump and it wasn’t long before #FireFauci began to trend on Twitter:

“Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, was asked about a report that his team pushed for earlier social distancing measures, but was rejected by the White House.

“CNN’s Jake Tapper asked if earlier action could have saved lives.

“’It’s very difficult to go back and say that,’ Fauci said, then added:

“‘I mean, obviously, you could logically say that if you had a process that was ongoing and you started mitigation earlier, you could have saved lives. Obviously, no one is going to deny that. But what goes into those kinds of decisions is complicated.'”

Trump’s retweet containing the #FireFauci hashtag drew plenty of criticism from others on social media, too:
