President Donald Trump’s nominee to fill the Director of National Intelligence vacancy was taken to the woodshed by Senator Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) during a hearing on Tuesday for denying that Trump has lied about the coronavirus.

Trump has told lie after lie after lie about the coronavirus for months now, including calling it a media “hoax.” He also claimed multiple times that it would go away and that deaths would be minimal.

So, Harris wanted to know what Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Texas) thinks about Trump’s coronavirus response. After all, if he is going to be the Director of National Intelligence, lawmakers and the American people need to know if he is going to endorse Trump’s lies or tell the truth.

“Do you think President Trump has accurately portrayed the threat of COVID-19 to the American people?” Harris asked.

“Are you saying presently?” Ratcliffe responded.

“We are in the midst of the pandemic presently,” Harris reminded him.

“So, repeat the question,” Ratcliffe replied. “Because I guess I’m misunderstanding.”

“Has he (Trump) accurately conveyed the severity of COVID-19 to the American people?” Harris repeated.

“Um, I believe so,” Ratcliffe said.

Harris then went on to contradict the nominee’s declaration by firing off a bunch of Trump’s lies about the pandemic that he has uttered over the last couple of months as 70,000 Americans died and over 1.1 million became infected. She pointed out how Trump ignored warnings and refused to properly prepare using his words, not the words of the media or Democrats.

Again, we don’t need an intelligence official who is going to help Trump lie to Congress and the American people. Intelligence is crucial to our national security, so it’s important that Ratcliffe tell the truth and not sugarcoat things to please Trump. He works for the people and the nation, not Trump.
