President Donald Trump made what many are calling callous and questionable remarks in Pennsylvania on Thursday when he told a crowd at a plant that distributes personal protective gear that seeing soldiers and healthcare workers run into death is a “beautiful thing to see.”

Trump turned the trip into a mini-campaign rally and refused to wear a mask as he visited with workers and spoke to them. But he just couldn’t stop himself from saying something insulting as usual when he went into his Americans are “warriors” routine.

“They are warriors, aren’t they?” Trump said. “When you see them going into those hospitals and they’re putting the stuff that you deliver, but they’re wrapping themselves and the doors are opening and they’re going through the doors and they’re not even ready to go through those doors. They probably shouldn’t.”

Trump, who dodged the draft five times during the Vietnam War and forces everyone around him to get tested and wear masks before he will see them, then claimed that watching soldiers “run into bullets” and seeing healthcare workers risk death themselves is a “beautiful thing to see.”

“They’re running into death just like soldiers run into bullets, in a true sense,” Trump said. “I see that with the doctors and the nurses and so many other people. They go into those hospitals, it’s incredible to see. It’s a beautiful thing to see. But I really call them ‘warriors.’ We’re all warriors; everyone in our country is a warrior.”

Trump apparently likes watching others risk their lives, but he would never do the same himself. Just when you think he couldn’t possibly sink any lower, he opens his mouth again.

This nightmare needs to end.
