Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) thought he had finally proven that President Donald Trump’s bogus “Obamagate” theory was indeed true, but his use of a Star Trek analogy only served to get him mocked and humiliated on social media.
The declassification of notes from former Obama administration national security adviser Susan Rice has blown yet another hole Trump’s “Obamagate” rantings, proving that the former president demanded that any counterintelligence investigation into Michael Flynn be conducted “by the book.”
But despite the facts suggesting that Trump has made a mountain out of a molehill, Cruz insisted that Rice’s notes are actually proof-positive that “Obamagate” is indeed a real thing. Cruz even used the movie “Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan” to support his ludicrous assertion:
In Star Trek II (Wrath of Kahn – the best of the series), when Kirk says “by the book” it’s code to mean he’s lying. ?? https://t.co/fNXzC49sWa

Problem is, as others on Twitter reminded Cruz, he didn’t even get the Star Trek reference correct. Take a look:
do you think wrath of khan is a documentary? is this why you think space pirates are real? https://t.co/cASSxfQhnd

Actually, he said it to indicate that he was following the rules. “No uncoded transmissions on an open channel.”
You’re not doing a good job of being a Star Trek geek.

I’m not sure who needs to hear this (well, other than Ted Cruz) but Star Trek isn’t real life.

over 91,000 deaths and we get this from Ted Cruz. This is why we cannot have nice things in the State of Texas.

Ugh Ted Cruz quoting star trek.. It’s like if he were to quote the Bible, he may know the words but no meaning, no understanding and he twists everything bc he’s …. Well Teddy’s evil incarnate. Thank goodness the devil said no to providing charisma or good looks In the deal
