President Donald Trump is threatening to cut off federal funding to Michigan after the state mailed out applications for absentee ballots to registered voters due to ongoing health dangers from the novel coronavirus.

Early Wednesday morning, Trump fired off this tweet:

Earlier this week, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson announced that voters in the state would have the option to vote via mail so they they could avoid having to go to the polls in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trump’s threats also came just hours after a major dam burst and caused massive flooding in the Wolverine State.

As social media users reminded Trump, Michigan residents were mailed applications for absentee ballots, not the ballots. And some also suggested that the president’s threat sounded suspiciously like the same thing he did to Ukraine, when he was impeached for holding up military aid unless the Ukrainians would agree to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden:
