President Donald Trump threatened Monday to move the 2020 Republican National Convention from its current location in Charlotte, North Carolina, if the state’s governor, Democrat Roy Cooper, doesn’t immediately agree to allow for a mass gathering in the city for the August convention.

On Twitter, Trump noted that if Cooper won’t allow for “full attendance” at the convention, the GOP would find another site:

While Trump and the RNC certainly have every right to hold their convention anywhere they want, for Trump to put his own personal wishes above the health and safety of North Carolinians drew a harsh response from social media:

Maybe Trump and the RNC should hold the 2020 convention at Trump Tower in New York. Then the president can charge exorbitant rates for the entire thing and rip the taxpayers off some more.
