Granted, we’ve always known that Fox News host Tucker Carlson is just the right of Atilla the Hun politically, always eager to defend any Republican who makes a blatantly bigoted statement and also a staunch acolyte of President Donald Trump. All of that’s a given.

But remarks Carlson made Monday evening on his show are leading some to suggest that the Fox host crossed the line, HuffPost notes:

“On Monday night, Carlson claimed Democrats and the Black Lives Matter movement were trying to eliminate the police and replace them with an armed ‘woke militia’ to take over cities and increase the power of the Democratic Party.”

Ever since protests began across the nation in reaction to the killing of George Floyd by four Minneapolis police officers, Carlson has been critical of such demonstrations and proclaiming that systematic racism doesn’t exist in police departments or the United States government. He has even referred to the protests as “Black Lives Matter riots,” which led him to remark:

“Imagine if the Black Lives Matter rioters had weapons and immunity from prosecution. That’s what they are talking about. Partisan law enforcement, and partisan law enforcement, incidentally, is hardly without precedent. In fact, it’s the rule in the Third World. This is an attempt to bring it here.”

Carlson also whined that Republicans aren’t doing nearly enough to fight back against Democrats and the social justice movement which is gaining momentum:

“They are too cynical, too fearful. They are going to opine like it’s not happening, repeat platitudes, read bumper stickers on the air, nod solemnly, and do nothing to protect the country.”

And then, like nearly every conservative, Carlson resorted to fear of the “other” in society to try and scare viewers into feeling the same way he does:

“This may be a lot of things, this moment we are living through, but it is definitely not about black lives. And remember that when they come for you, and at this rate, they will. Anyone who has ever been subjected to the rage of the mob knows the feeling. It’s like being swarmed by hornets. You cannot think clearly. And the temptation is to panic. But you can’t panic. You’ve got to keep your head and tell the truth. Tell the truth. If you show weakness of any kind, they will crush you.”

Those blatantly racist comments drew heavy criticism for Carlson on Twitter:
