Rep. Max Rose (D-N.Y.) ripped Republicans in remarks made on the House floor Wednesday by calling them out for being hypocrites after they claimed they don’t want to consolidate wealth among the wealthy few.

Congress was in the middle of debating an infrastructure bill that would create jobs across the country to help rebuild our crumbling roads, bridges, tunnels, and other infrastructure needs, but Republicans offered an amendment that allegedly would put more money in the pockets of billionaires. And Republicans did this while insisting that they haven’t been bought by the rich.

Well, Rose had enough of this hypocrisy so he stood up to deliver quite a scathing rebuke that had Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C) clutching her pearls like an entitled “Karen”.

“I rise in opposition to this amendment,” Rose said. “And quite frankly, I’m dumbfounded. You’re aware that this conversation is in public so I won’t put words in your mouth, but I will use your own words. You say today that you don’t want to consolidate wealth amongst the few.”

Rose pointed out that the GOP’s 2017 tax law gave trillions of dollars to wealthy individuals and corporations and very little, if anything, to the rest of us.

“What do you think your tax scam did?” Rose said. “This is about workers. You say you’re worried about deficit spending. Hallelujah! You weren’t worried about deficit spending when it came to endless wars. You weren’t worried about deficit spending when it came to a tax scam.”

Indeed, Republicans have not cared at all about the deficit or debt under Trump, passing record military funding bills and the aforementioned tax law, support Trump’s disastrous trade wars and let Trump waste taxpayer money on his golf trips. Hundreds of billions more went to corporations under the GOP stimulus bill passed by Senate Republicans in response to the pandemic while most Americans only received a $1,200 pittance.

“This conversation is in public!” Rose continued. “You don’t get to go back to districts now and say you are on the side of workers. But whose side are you on? So today out in public, you reveal yourselves to be the hypocrites that you are!” he added. “We’re going to make sure that people remember this.”

Foxx then whined.

“I ask that the gentleman’s words be taken down,” she said. “I am not a hypocrite.”

“With all due respect, ma’am, you are,” Rose replied.

“Madam Speaker!” Foxx complained like a true “Karen,” prompting Rose to double down.

“I would like to amend my remarks to say my colleagues across the aisle are being especially hypocritical today,” he concluded.

Every time Democrats put together a legislative package that benefits or help the American people, Republicans rush to claim it’s too expensive and would add to the deficit and debt. But it’s pretty clear based on the last three and a half years that they only care about passing bills that fatten the bank accounts of their rich donors. They will spend money like drunken sailors when they have power, but whine profusely when Democrats try spending money to help the people who need it most.
