As President Donald Trump continues to push for forcing public schools to reopen, Missouri Governor Mike Parson (R) made some comments that should deeply concern parents.

Trump’s scheme to reopen schools carries a deadly price as classrooms would become breeding grounds for the spread of the coronavirus, which has already killed over 140,000 Americans across the country, including many kids.

Kids with underlying medical conditions would be particularly at risk, as would any adult at school or at home they come into contact with. Again, kids have already died because of this virus. A lot more will die if schools reopen.

But Parson doesn’t care. In fact, he admitted kids would get the virus during an interview and shrugged it off by saying they would just go home “get over it.”

“These kids have got to get back to school,” Parson said according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch. “They’re at the lowest risk possible. And if they do get COVID-19, which they will — and they will when they go to school — they’re not going to the hospitals. They’re not going to have to sit in doctor’s offices. They’re going to go home and they’re going to get over it.”

Parson’s remarks run contrary to the concerns of medical experts, including Dr. Alex Garza of the St. Louis Metropolitan Pandemic Task Force

“We worry about those in school who are not children — teachers, support staff and volunteers,” Dr. Garza said. “Many of those people will have a much more serious response to the virus and that is what we want to avoid. These children could also come home and spread the virus to others in their household who could also be at a greater risk of a serious outcome.”

Republicans no longer care about protecting the lives of Americans. They don’t care if people die. They don’t even care if kids die. They only care about pushing Trump’s agenda and that is downright criminal.
