President Donald Trump ranted like a toddler pretending to be a mad dictator during a rally in Minnesota on Monday in which he directly proclaimed that if he loses the election it’s proof that it’s rigged. He went on to declare that he should be president for another eight years.
Free and fair elections have been a hallmark in this country since the founding, but faced with getting his a** handed to him by former Vice President Joe Biden in November, Trump openly sought to delegitimize the upcoming contest by claiming that the election must be rigged should he lose.
“The only way we lose this election is if it’s rigged,” Trump told his rabid supporters.

This is proof that Trump has no intention of conceding to Biden regardless of how many votes he loses by. Biden could win by a landslide and Trump will still refuse to leave office and will try to void the election results or unleash his armed supporters upon the nation.
As if that was not bad enough, Trump would go on to claim that he will seek a third term if re-elected because he somehow deserves an extra four years as a do-over because of the Russia investigation.
“We are going to win four more years,” Trump said. “And then after that, we’ll go for another four years, because they spied on my campaign. We should get a redo of four years.”

That’s not how the presidency works. The Constitution does not give Presidents “do-overs” because the POTUS feels someone was mean or “unfair” to him. The Constitution clearly states that presidents can only serve two terms in office. Furthermore, nobody spied on Trump’s campaign. His conspiracy theory has been debunked multiple times, including by Republican officials.
Trump is clearly scared of losing because as long as he’s in office he can’t be prosecuted for his crimes. So, he is questioning the legitimacy of the election results and demanding he be allowed to stay in power as long as he wants. Our democracy is under attack.
Americans should be alarmed by this rhetoric and if conservatives have any real respect for the Constitution they will march into the voting booth and vote for Biden.
