A 2012 tweet from President Donald Trump about the taxes paid by then-President Barack Obama is coming back to haunt the current resident of the White House.

On Sunday, the New York Times reported that Trump — who claims to be worth $10 billion — paid just $750 in federal taxes for the years 2016 and 2017. That same report also revealed that Trump owes hundreds of millions of dollars to various entities and nations, which would seem to be a conflict of interest for a president.

Here’s the 2012 tweet from Trump:

As the Los Angeles Times noted back in 2012, Obama did indeed pay a slightly lower tax rate than is the usual for people in his income range, but he also gave over $172,000 in charitable contributions, which reduced his taxes.

In contrast, according to HuffPost, Trump tried to write off hairstyling expenses:

“Trump’s write-offs include $70,000 in hairstyling costs for ‘The Apprentice,’ while much of his charitable giving was in the form of conservation easements, or agreements not to develop certain properties, including land around an estate the Trumps use as a family retreat.

“(The Times also) noted at one point that 2014 marked four years in a row where Trump paid nothing in taxes ― meaning he paid zero in 2011, the same year Obama paid $162,074 in federal taxes, and also zero in 2012, when he fired off that tweet.

Social media lit up with mockery in reaction to the Times report and Trump’s 2012 tweet about Obama:
