Eric Trump set off a flurry of activity on social media Tuesday morning when he announced that he’s “part of” the LGBT community and that his father, President Donald Trump, has tremendous support among LGBT Americans.
Eric’s remarks were prompted by an article from The New York Times in which a lesbian woman said she will be voting for the incumbent president in November, leading the president’s son to remark during an appearance “Fox & Friends”:
“The LGBT community, they are incredible. And you should see how they come out in full force for my father every single day. I’m part of that community, and we love the man.”

Uh…what?! He’s a part of that community? Shouldn’t he have told his wife before announcing it on national television?
Plenty of Twitter users were left scratching their heads in confusion, too. Others made it clear they didn’t want any association with Eric:
…I mean, I think I speak for all of us when I say “no thanks”, but I’m still in shock

Is Eric Trump coming out or does he think LGBT stands for Lying Grifters Beating the Tax system? https://t.co/WOmFO0czuF

A lot to unpack here
Trump banned transgender soldiers from serving in the military
Just nominated a right wing religious loon to the Supreme Court who would make being a homosexual illegal given the opportunity
And Eric’s gay?

This is so embarrassing for him. Eric, your application to the LGBT Community has been rejected several times (you’re just not the right fit for us right now).

Later today, in an effort to best his brother, Donald Trump Jr. will probably announce that he’s Hispanic.
