On Monday, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani — who now works as a personal attorney and campaign shill for President Donald Trump — was in Philadelphia to drum up support for the fading presidential reelection effort when he let loose with what may well one of the biggest lies uttered since the 2020 race for the White House began earlier this year.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Giuliani bounced from one topic to another:
“Giuliani spoke off the cuff about issues such as the Democratic Party being ‘controlled’ by Black Lives Matter and what he described as the president’s outstanding handling of the ‘Chinese Communist virus.'”
Then Rudy let loose with one humdinger of a massive lie that no one dies of coronavirus in the United States these days:
“People don’t die of this disease anymore. Young people don’t die at all. Middle age people die very little, and even elderly people have only one percent chance of dying.”

Fact check: 215,000+ people are dead. More are dying every single day. pic.twitter.com/elpimiZIPi

That’s simply not true, as the numbers easily prove.
So far, over 215,000 Americans have died from COVID-19 and hundreds more are dying each and every day. On Saturday, former CDC director Dr. Tom Frieden estimated that an additional 20,000 deaths by the end of October was “inevitable.”
Giuliani’s fact-free remarks drew heavy fire on social media:

The current seven day average in the U.S. is almost 700 deaths a day. https://t.co/Bvi5SMFbu8

16,000 more people are dead since Trump’s “good genes” speech two weeks ago in Bemidji Mn!!! And watch WI in a week from now as they send sick people home to come back when they can’t breathe!

So, those over 300 who died yesterday are actually not dead… I see. Truth is not truth, according to this buffon. pic.twitter.com/oqW6Y869SN

Unfortunately, a substantial percentage of the population believes Rudy’s dribble. Of course – they also believe the earth is flat and that evolution is blasphemous. #COVID19 #AmyConeyBarrett

What disease was Rudy referring to, when he said people don’t die from this disease anymore? Did he refer to Covid or to Alcoholism? Rudy is an expert on alcohol addiction. Zip up your pants Mr Mayor!

Translation from the original Republican: “People like me and you and everyone we know aren’t among the thousand who keep dying every day, so fuck’em.”

Give a demented psychological pile a microphone, don’t be surprised when you get a steaming diaper full of idiocy

Rudy, just like Donald Trump, is willfully ignorant. And that’s the most dangerous form of cluelessness that exists in the world today.
