During a 3:00 a.m. Twitter tirade early Friday morning, President Donald Trump launched an attack on Joe Biden and the U.S. Supreme Court, suggesting that he intends to use the high court to help him steal an election victory and also issuing what sounds like a preemptive attack on the justices, one-third of whom he appointed:

As Mediate notes, there’s a lot to unpack in that tweet:

“What the commander in chief is flatly saying is that the only way that Joe Biden is ‘actually elected President,’ is if five Supreme Court justice were to help allow that to happen. This statement is the clearest indication that President Trump expects to take the results of next Tuesday’s general election to the courts, regardless of the outcome. It also puts in stark relief the rush to confirm Justice Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.”

The president also fired off two other tweets:

Princeton professor Steven Strauss was stunned by Trump’s postings:

And Josh Block of the ACLU said both the president and his defenders are to blame:

Donald Trump is getting more unstable and dangerous by the minute. We can only hope American voters will provide a landslide for Biden that will render Trump’s schemes moot.
