Outgoing President Donald Trump resumed taking credit for things he had nothing to do with on Sunday night when he bragged about a recent NASA launch, only to get taken to the woodshed.
For those who haven’t been keeping up, the coronavirus death toll in the United States has surpassed 250,000. But rather than listen to scientists who have been strenuously advising action to slow or stop the spread of this virus, Trump would rather ignore it to hurl false allegations of election fraud and take credit for NASA launching yet another SpaceX crew into orbit, which he did on Twitter.
A great launch! @NASA was a closed up disaster when we took over. Now it is again the “hottest”, most advanced, space center in the world, by far! https://t.co/CDCGdO74Yb

This is a complete lie. Trump had nothing to do with this successful launch or this program. In fact, it was former President Barack Obama who signed the Commercial Crew program into law and it was his budgets that funded it, as Business Insider Space Correspondent Dave Mosher pointed out in response.
PSA: Space folks know this is laughable nonsense. The Commercial Crew Program — under which SpaceX made Crew Dragon — was funded by, and most work carried out under, the Obama administration. And NASA never “closed.” The nearest it came to closing was under Trump. (See: pandemic) pic.twitter.com/LpTRLm18sc

Mosher also noted that Trump likely insulted Texas.
Also, I’d argue the “hottest” and “most advanced” space center is arguably in Boca Chica, Texas, where SpaceX is learning to mass-manufacture Starships, i.e. fully reusable vehicles that might reduce the cost of access to space by 100-fold or more and maybe fly people to Mars.

Other Twitter users also humiliated Trump for stroking his own ego.
Me. Me. Me. Do you give credit to anyone else? Ever?!?!?

Hes unbelievable! Just give credit! No need to make it about himself 🤦🏼♂️

Biden tweeted about it first.

This guy’s talking about going to space when we can’t even go to get our haircut safely

CONGRATULATIONS SIR with the tremendous, new space station on Uranus! Finally a place for Republican Senators to enjoy the remainder of their careers!

First man launched into the sun.

Not only did Biden tweet about the NASA launch before Trump did, his remarks demonstrated how a real president should respond to such occasions.
Congratulations to NASA and SpaceX on today’s launch. It’s a testament to the power of science and what we can accomplish by harnessing our innovation, ingenuity, and determination. I join all Americans and the people of Japan in wishing the astronauts Godspeed on their journey.

And this is why Biden won the election. And once he takes office, we will no longer have a narcissist in the White House who only cares about himself.
