Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) accused House Democrats of “filibustering” a weak Republican coronavirus stimulus bill that does not help struggling Americans, only to get humiliated by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) for not knowing how the House works.

In the wake of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) adjourning the Senate without passing crucial relief for the American people that House Democrats had passed earlier this year, Ocasio-Cortez laid into McConnell on Twitter.

Indeed, the coronavirus is exploding across the country and more than 260,000 Americans have died. The economy is reeling and it will only get worse if a new round of stimulus is not passed. Yet, Republicans would rather go on vacation and let the people suffer.

Ted Cruz, who already has a feud with AOC that he is embarrassingly losing, once again dared to challenge her.

Of course, Democrats are only objecting to the Republican bill because it does nothing for the millions of Americans who are financially struggling because of the pandemic. Many face eviction at the beginning of this year and the Treasury is set to end aid programs after Christmas, so it’s definitely not going to be a happy holiday for a lot of families. Senate Republicans certainly should not have gone on vacation and could have passed a bill House Democrats passed earlier this year that offers real help to the people instead of being just another gift to corporations.

AOC responded to Cruz by informing him that there are no filibusters in the House and reminded him of the bill the House has already passed. She then mocked him for not understanding how the House works.

It’s pretty sad when a first-term lawmaker like AOC has more understanding of how Congress works than a man who has been in the Senate for the last seven years. It’s even more embarrassing that AOC has done more in two years to help the American people than Cruz has ever done.
