As over 3,000 Americans die each day from COVID-19 and the U.S. economy remains stuck in a recession caused in large part by the novel coronavirus, Congressional Republicans continue to argue, dither, and hold up passage of a second stimulus package that would provide much-needed financial relief to businesses and individuals.
Yet amidst this ongoing national tragedy, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) said Friday that we need to all stop calling for another stimulus bill and just go out and get a job.
Here’s Jordan’s utterly tone-deaf tweet that he sent out Friday morning:
The best stimulus? A job.

What in the hell?! How are people supposed to get a job when there are almost no jobs to be had? Is Jordan even aware of the economic crisis caused in large part by President Donald Trump’s monumental (and potentially criminal) handling of the pandemic? Or has the congressman been too busy helping spread vapid conspiracy theories about how the 2020 election was “stolen,” even though there’s been zero proof of such an allegation>
Twitter users quickly pushed back on Jordan:
Watching families literally starve. That’s Gym Jordan’s latest mission, apparently. https://t.co/yfD6vdojbt

What the fuck do you (or frankly anyone in Congress) know about a “job” when you are failing to do yours and provide desperately needed relief to the people?

Must be nice to sit there and say that with your taxpayer funded salary and healthcare. Love your gerrymandered district too.

Cool story. What bills have you brought to the floor that would stimulate job creation? I’ll answer: NONE!

Jim Jordan and the Republican Party are complicit in the deaths of 313,000 Americans. They did nothing for 10 months as the economy crashed, millions became infected and tens of thousands died.
Now Jordan is telling people to get a job. He should have been doing his own job.

A universal jobs guarantee of $174,000 to sit in Congress and rant about shit you saw on TV https://t.co/W4AeoTacGE

Just when you think Republicans cannot possibly get more deplorable and disgusting, Jim Jordan sticks his head out of the rathole he inhabits and reminds us what heartlessness and cruelty looks like.
