The Christmas season is supposed to be about helping those who are struggling and the Bible literally commands Christians to reject wealth in favor of lifting up the poor. But outgoing Vice President Mike Pence made it clear where the priorities of Republicans lie.

During a speech in Florida, Pence made an a** of himself by riling up the crowd to continue scheming to keep outgoing President Donald trump and himself in power even though they LOST the election to President-Elect Joe Biden fair and square.

But then he began boasting about what the Trump administration has done over the last four years, which includes massive tax cuts for the wealthy and dangerous rollbacks of regulations that protect workers.

In the process, Pence outright admitted that Republicans only care about rich people, and demonized Democrats for trying to help poor people as if it’s a bad thing.

“[Democrats] want to make rich people poorer, and poor people more comfortable,” Pence said.

Here’s the video via Twitter:

Again, a central tenet of Christianity is all about making the poor more comfortable. If anything, Pence should be demanding that the government do more for struggling Americans, especially since he claims to be the poster boy for evangelism in America. But he only demonstrated that he’s a fake Christian.

A poorer rich person is still rich. But the taxes extracted from that rich person support programs that lift Americans out of poverty. Obscene wealth in this country has been enabled by Republicans for too long, resulting in a wealth gap that is wider than at any time since the 1920s. As we all know, what followed was the Great Depression.

When Pence complains about Democrats trying to make the poor more comfortable, the poor Americans he is speaking of include millions of Republican voters who live in red states that are among the poorest in the country. Indeed, red states lead the nation in food stamp usage, have worse healthcare, and have executed the deepest cuts in education funding all while slashing taxes on the wealthy, therefore creating a never-ending cycle of poverty that has only become more perverse.

Pence literally admitted that Democrats care more about poor Republican voters than Republican lawmakers do. It’s a statement that Democrats across the country can use in campaign ads for years to come to clearly define the differences between the parties. Republicans are for the rich and only for the rich. They’ve made that absolutely clear by gifting trillions of dollars in tax cuts and coronavirus relief giveaways to the wealthy and corporations while raising taxes on those who have already reached a breaking point.

Democrats want to help the poor and create an economy that benefits everyone. Nowhere is this more evident than their fight to give every American earning less than $75,000 a $2,000 stimulus check. The only people standing in the way are Senate Republicans, who really didn’t even want to support $600 pittance checks as millions face eviction and starvation at the end of the year.

There’s no question who the villains in this country are, it’s the Republicans. Mike Pence admitted it. And now Georgia voters have a chance to punish them for it by voting to give Democrats control of the Senate. That single action would allow Democrats to demonstrate their commitment to making the poor more comfortable, something that will make Pence and other Republicans uncomfortable. And anything that makes Republicans uncomfortable is what our nation needs most right now.
