If outgoing President Donald Trump had planned on fleeing to Scotland prior to the inauguration of President-Elect Joe Biden, he’s going to throw a tantrum because his plan just fell apart.
Trump is a loser. He lost the election to Biden by 7 million votes and 306-232 in the Electoral College. So, it’s quite obvious that he likely won’t be at Biden’s inauguration because he’s a crybaby who can’t stand losing and doesn’t want to face the humiliation of watching his power come to an end. He also likely fears being arrested and charged for his various crimes by prosecutors as soon as he’s out of office, which is also why he might want to leave the country before January 20th.
Trump reportedly intended to travel to Scotland for a stay at his golf course and resort at Turnberry, where he could avoid attending the inauguration and being arrested. But Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and the coronavirus pandemic nixed that idea on Tuesday.
“I hope and expect that his immediate travel plan is to exit the White House, but beyond that I don’t know,” Sturgeon said. “We are not allowing people to come into Scotland now without an essential purpose, which would apply to him, just as it applies to everybody else. Coming to play golf is not what I would consider an essential purpose.”
That pretty much puts an end to Trump’s hope that he could just flee to Scotland, not that he couldn’t be extradited back to the United States anyway. But it looks like he’ll have to go somewhere else. Perhaps Russia would let him in.
Of course, the White House is denying that Trump even considered traveling to Scotland, not that anything Trump’s White House says can actually be trusted.
“Anonymous sources who claim to know what the President is or is not considering have no idea,” Trump spokesman Judd Deere said. “When President Trump has an announcement about his plans for Jan. 20 he will let you know.”
As soon as Biden takes the oath of office, an arrest warrant should be issued for Trump and his band of collaborators. His attempt to orchestrate a coup to stay in power and other crimes must be prosecuted to prevent similar or worse behavior in the future. And our country should be committed to hunting him down wherever he tries to hide.
