In yet another example of the Trump crime family giving themselves awards they do not deserve, the Defense Department disgustingly awarded Jared Kushner the Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service.
Along with Kushner, the Defense Department also gave the award to Trump staffers Dan Scavino and Avi Berkowitz for deals that supposedly fostered peace in the Middle East.
Right-wing rag Washington Examiner touted the event:
President Trump’s personal staff who paved the way for boosting international security, including through the Abraham Accords, were awarded with special recognition from Morocco and the Pentagon this week…
[T]he awards to senior adviser Jared Kushner, Avi Berkowitz, assistant to the president and special representative for international negotiations, and communications adviser Dan Scavino highlighted their efforts on the world stage at a time when the spotlight has turned to the incoming administration.Kushner, Berkowitz, and Scavino were presented with the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service, the highest award given to private citizens.
Scavino said he was “humbled and greatly honored to receive the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service. Serving our country is a great source of pride to me.”
Of course, the “distinguished service” referred to is just a few trade deals made between nations that are not even at war with each other. Disgraced outgoing President Donald Trump has repeatedly bragged about the deals between several predominantly Muslim nations and Israel as an achievement of peace in the Middle East, but it’s really not. Even the Nobel Peace Prize committee was not impressed.
The deals are worthless and do nothing to reduce tensions between Israel and Iran, nor do they deal with ongoing hostilities between Israel and the Palestinians. They certainly do not warrant Kushner, Scavino, and Berkowitz receiving an award for distinguished public service. Clearly, Trump’s loyal cronies in the Defense Department made this happen so Kushner can pretend he did something relevant with the administration.
Just like the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service is now a disgraced chunk of metal that means absolutely nothing.
