One would think Fox News would want to turn over a new leaf now that former President Donald Trump is out of office, but it appears that the network is going all-in on white supremacy instead.
Trump coddled white supremacists throughout his four years in office, and they voted for him in return and even launched an attempted coup in a desperate scheme to keep him in power. That failed insurrection resulted in several people being killed and democracy was certainly threatened that day at the Capitol. Racism, hate, and violence were allowed to flourish under Trump and it nearly tore the country apart.
That’s why President Joe Biden unequivocally denounced white supremacy during his inaugural address on Wednesday.
“Our history has been a constant struggle between the American ideal that we are all created equal and the harsh, ugly reality that racism, nativism, fear, and demonization have long torn us apart,” Biden declared. “The battle is perennial. Victory is never assured. Through the Civil War, the Great Depression, World War, 9/11, through struggle, sacrifice, and setbacks, our “better angels” have always prevailed. In each of these moments, enough of us came together to carry all of us forward. And, we can do so now. History, faith, and reason show the way, the way of unity…And now, a rise in political extremism, white supremacy, domestic terrorism that we must confront and we will defeat.”
It’s a condemnation that any American should agree with, but Fox News had a problem with it because it’s “offensive” to Trump supporters, who were the ones at the Capitol trying to violently overthrow democracy two weeks ago.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson whined about the condemnation, as did Martha MacCallum and guest contributor Dan Henninger.
Fox News complains that President Biden’s criticism of white supremacy will offend Trump supporters
“Why is he bringing up nativism and fear and telling lies for power and profit in the middle of an inaugural speech?”https://t.co/jHWOyuWLsb pic.twitter.com/Bvbz93X65b

It shouldn’t have to be said, but if you think condemning white supremacists offends Trump supporters, that means you also think of Trump supporters as white supremacists. And frankly, every American should be staunchly and fiercely opposed to white supremacy. Complaining about Biden condemning it is defending it and that should not be tolerated, not by viewers and not by sponsors who advertise on Fox programming.
By defending white supremacy, Fox News is continuing to perpetuate racism and violence in America, which will only incite the kind of insurrection we saw at the Capitol.
