Poor Jim Jordan. Ever since the coronavirus pandemic began, the Republican congressman from Ohio has been trying to spout the GOP/Trump line about how it’s not all that serious and will disappear one day just as quickly as it first appeared in early 2020.
As a matter of fact, Jordan — along with a majority of Republicans in Congress — simply cannot understand what all the panic is about, and yet 437,000 Americans have died from the virus, and thousands more continue to die each and every day.
So perhaps it shouldn’t come as a surprise to any of us that Jordan is now enraged that Dr. Anthony Fauci is suggesting that wearing two protective masks might be a good idea with new COVID-19 variants making their way to the United States from the United Kingdom and South Africa:
First, it was don’t wear a mask.
Then, it was wear a mask.
Now? Wear two masks! What’s next? Shopping in plastic bubbles?https://t.co/UR5bPmiwSS

Clearly, Jordan doesn’t realize or appreciate that new evidence often comes to the forefront when it comes to disease, and when those facts present themselves, it may become necessary for us all to take new precautions as a safety measure. That’s how these things work.
But for the science deniers in the GOP like Jim Jordan, new information is a bad thing and shouldn’t be shared with the public.
All of this led to angry reactions to Jordan’s tweet on social media:
First, it was I didn’t see anything.
Then, I was I didn’t know anything.
Now, [crying] please don’t tell on me.What’s next? Passing a law allowing sexual predators to abuse student athletes?

I know you don’t understand science, so let me help. Scientists generate a hypothesis based on current knowns and extrapolated predictions. As data are more available, the working hypothesis is tested. Where it fails, revisions are made until an operating theory is solidified.

Do you have a problem with seatbelts & child seats too?
Masks are to save lives, just like those were.
So stop acting like a 3-year-old and listen to the professionals.
You’re a moron.

Have you not been paying attention? The new strain is much more transmissible. God forbid someone makes suggestions so people can better protect themselves and others…

Scientists & most grownups agree to this thing called “learning” & “adjusting based on new observations & information.” “First it was the sun goes around the earth. Then it was the earth goes around the sun. What’s next? The whole solar system revolves in a galaxy?!?” Yep.

It cracks me up people think masks are some big conspiracy when we’ve said “cover your nose when you sneeze” our whole lives. It’s kinda like that but on a pandemic scale. Make sense, Gym?
