Former Daily Show host Jon Stewart took aim at disgraced former President Donald Trump for attacking the Screen Actors’ Guild in response to the union moving to expel him.

The Screen Actors’ Guild made the decision to expel Trump because of his role in the failed insurrection at the Capitol on January 6th in a scheme to stay in power and overthrow democracy.

Rather than be expelled, Trump wrote a letter to Screen Actors’ Guild President Gabrielle Carteris in which he bragged about his few roles on television and movies and insulted Carteris before resigning.

“I write to you today regarding the so-called Disciplinary Committee hearing aimed at revoking my union membership. Who cares!” Trump wrote. “While I’m not familiar with your work, I’m very proud of my work on movies such as Home Alone 2, Zoolander and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps; and television shows including The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Saturday Night Live, and of course, one of the most successful shows in television history, The Apprentice—to name just a few! This letter is to inform you of my immediate resignation from SAG-AFTRA. You have done nothing for me.”

For those unaware, Carteris is best known for her role as Andrea Zuckerman on Beverly Hills, 90210 in the early 1990s. She has gone on to appear in dozens of films, both theatrical and made-for-television, has made appearances in several television series such as NYPD Blue, Criminal Minds, and NCIS, and has even done voice work for animated shows such as Avatar: The Last Airbender and Batman: The Brave and the Bold

Her acting resume is far more extensive and distinguished than Trump’s, and she earned all of her roles. Trump’s roles mostly consisted of cameos he demanded in exchange for movies and shows obtaining permission to film scenes at his properties, which is the only reason why he appeared in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York back in 1992. It’s a cameo director Chris Columbus has said Trump bullied his way into, and Macaulay Culkin supports the effort to remove Trump from the film.

Trump has been mocked relentlessly for quitting the Screen Actors’ Guild in a huff, including by Jon Stewart with this gem:

Of course, even Jon Stewart has been a more successful actor than Trump, with films such as Big Daddy and Death to Smoochy under his belt. Not blockbusters but Stewart’s participation in each was far more than a mere cameo.

Trump is currently being impeached for inciting insurrection, making him the first president to be impeached twice. Had he simply resigned like he just did from the Screen Actors’ Guild, we would have all been better off.
