Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley is finally turning on disgraced former President Donald Trump a little more than one month after he incited an insurrection at the Capitol to overthrow democracy and stay in power.
Trump is currently being impeached for the second time and is getting destroyed by House impeachment managers in the Senate trial, who have repeatedly driven home that the insurrection was much worse than what most Americans saw unfold on television.
Leading up to the attempted coup, Trump and his cronies repeatedly pushed election lies and he refused to concede that he had lost the 2020 race to current President Joe Biden. Trump and his supporters insisted the election had been stolen or rigged even though there is absolutely zero evidence of election fraud.
Even Haley engaged in these lies and defended Trump, so she bears some responsibility for the insurrection as well and has blood on her hands.
She wants to run for president in 2024, so of course she’s only now willing to condemn Trump.
“He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him,” she said, according to Axios. “And we can’t let that ever happen again. I mean, I’m deeply disturbed by what’s happened to him. Never did I think he would spiral out like this… I don’t feel like I know who he is anymore… The person that I worked with is not the person that I have watched since the election.”
Yes, he is. Trump is the same narcissistic wannabe tyrant he has always been. Even during the 2016 Election he was refusing to say that he would accept the results if he lost to Hillary Clinton. Trump even threatened violence if he lost. That very scenario played out during the 2020 Election and the violence happened on January 6th. Haley is lying when she says Trump was different several years ago.
So, she agrees that he should be impeached and barred from ever running for office again, right? She believes he should be held accountable, right?
Nope. She thinks impeachment is a waste of time because she doesn’t think he’ll run again.
“I don’t think he can. He’s fallen so far,” she said.
Yeah, that’s awful naive. Trump is addicted to power and if he can run again, even if it’s just a ruse to dupe his supporters for their money, he’ll do it. And considering that 74 million Americans voted for him, he probably thinks he stands a chance at winning. He is extremely popular among the Republican base, which means Haley and other Republican contenders would be pushed off the stage just as they were in 2016.
And we could see yet anther insurrection attempt when he loses, as House impeachment manager Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) pointed out during the Senate trial this week while arguing that Trump must be convicted.
“I’m not afraid of Donald Trump running again in four years,” Lieu said. “I’m afraid he’ll run again and lose because he can do this again.”
“I’m not afraid Donald Trump is going to run again,” said Rep. Ted Lieu, one of House impeachment managers. “I’m afraid he’s going to run again and lose. Because he’s going to do this again.” https://t.co/YCUmgGWVAV pic.twitter.com/t7shryk45S

It’s too little, too late for Haley to all of a sudden condemn Trump for inciting insurrection and telling outrageous lies about the election. She would have been better off declining to serve in Trump’s administration. Her hands would have been clean. Instead, she’s complicit in Trump’s scheme to overthrow democracy and should never be allowed to even sniff the White House. Because if she really believes what Trump did was wrong, she would also support holding him accountable and barring him from ever running for office again.
