Now that Republicans in Congress have been rendered politically irrelevant for the next couple of years, they’ve decided that they’ll engage in conspiracy theories, lies, and rumors in a pathetic attempt to garner attention from right-wing media outlets.
For example, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) is claiming that two Democratic governors, Andrew Cuomo (NY) and Gavin Newsom (CA) are being “eliminated” by the Democratic Party and Vice President Kamala Harris so that the VP can run for the Democratic presidential nomination unopposed on the 2024 election.
Nunes unveiled his bizarre conspiracy theory during an interview with Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo, who asked the California Republican:
“This whole throwing Newsom, throwing Cuomo under the bus from Democrats, you say that is a larger theme.”
That was all Nunes needed to start spinning his lies:
“I think it’s real easy. The Democratic Party is really a socialist party with a politburo system. That’s how it runs out in California.
“You know, Kamala Harris never really had to run for anything. So, what they’re doing here, what I believe they’re doing here is that Cuomo and Newsom are expendable now. They’re a threat to the politburo system, they’re a threat to Harris.”
The California Republican then added:
“This is all about eliminating the opposition so that she has a free run in 2024 and isn’t challenged by, you know, prominent governors from two of the biggest states.”
Proving that she has no journalistic ethics or the ability to think for herself, Bartiromo gladly agreed with Nunes:
“Yeah, that makes sense.”
Keep in mind this is the very same Devin Nunes who has sued people for criticizing him on Twitter, including an imaginary cow!
As we’ve seen ever since Donald Trump took control of the GOP, the party has become nothing more than an extension of the failed former president’s ego and id. They deserve to go the same way as the Whigs: Into the dustbin of history.
