The hiring of disgraced former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany is causing internal turmoil at the conservative network because staffers would rather not work with a serial liar who spread dangerous propaganda every day.
Every day she worked at the White House, McEnany lied for Donald Trump. She lied about the coronavirus. She lied about the election. She lied about Black Lives Matter. She lied every time she spoke to the American people, the opposite of what a real press secretary is supposed to do, which is why President Joe Biden’s White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki is so refreshing.
In fact, McEnany’s lies were so blatant and toxic that Forbes warned businesses not to hire her or Trump’s other three press secretaries if they want to be taken seriously.
Well, Fox News didn’t heed the warning because they hired McEnany on as a consultant. And it’s already causing problems for the network.
Staffers are opposed to McEnany’s hiring, especially after Fox News fired Chris Stirewalt just because he correctly called Arizona for Biden instead of bowing down to Trump’s demand that the state should be falsely called for him.
“It’s truly disgusting they fired hard-working journalists who did care about facts and news reporting only to turn around and hire a mini-Goebbels whose incessant lies from the White House helped incite an insurrection on our democracy that got five people killed, including a police officer,” a staffer told the Daily Beast. “Post-Trump Fox is quickly becoming a very scary place and quite dangerous for our democracy. It’s not even conservative news anymore. They’ve plunged into an alternate reality where extremist propaganda is the only course on the menu.”
Indeed, McEnany and Fox News, along with smaller right-wing media platforms pushed Trump’s election lies so much that his supporters stormed the Capitol looking to assassinate lawmakers and overthrow democracy.
“So many good people are out of a job now and I’m sure she’ll get a huge contract,” another staffer said.
“It bothers me in that it is basically a slap in the face to the hardworking journalists that value real news and facts,” yet another added. “But it also doesn’t surprise me because they have shown that they don’t give a damn about facts and real news.”
One staffer really let the network and viewers have it.
“It’s a self-serving profiteering enterprise,” the staffer said, going on to note that McEnany has “name recognition, notoriety, an obvious willingness to say anything her employer desires. The viewers are morons.”
It’s sad that Fox News would stoop so low as to hire McEnany. By all rights, she should be radioactive and unhirable for the rest of her life. Her hiring demonstrates that Fox News is all in on Trump and that attorneys should be prepared to file lawsuit after lawsuit against the network after she starts opening her mouth. Because whatever she says is sure to be slanderous or damaging enough to warrant legal and civil consequences.
