Disgraced former President Donald Trump’s grifting of his supporters is continuing, and the goal appears to be to hurt the Republican Party financially.

Trump has repeatedly fleeced his supporters over the last several years as a money-making venture, often funneling campaign cash into his businesses, including much of the cash he solicited to supposedly keep his election lawsuits alive even though he used very little of it for that purpose.

Now he’s urging his supporters to keep giving him money instead of donating it to the Republican Party.

“No more money for RINOS (Republicans In Name Only),” Trump said in a statement pretending that he’s still president. “They do nothing but hurt the Republican Party and our great voting base—they will never lead us to greatness. Send your donation to Save America PAC at DonaldJTrump.com. We will bring it all back stronger than ever before!”

Quite hypocritical of Trump to be calling for canceling moderate Republicans at a time when Republicans are howling about so-called “cancel culture.”

Of course, the GOP would probably rather this money be donated to the party since Trump will likely pocket the donations himself considering his massive personal debts. Very little, if any, of this money will likely be used to support candidates. That’s what it looks like to New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman anyway.

Trump is already threatening Republicans for using his name to solicit donations. Now he’s outright telling conservative donors to give him money instead of giving it to the GOP directly, basically guaranteeing that Republican candidates will see little of it, thus hurting the party financially ahead of the 2022 midterm election.

Republicans should have convicted Trump for inciting insurrection and barred him from ever seeking office again when the had the chance. Because they refused to do so, they now get to watch Trump hurt their party even more.
