The Republican Party sent out a tweet calling for all U.S. schools to be reopened immediately, but a blatant typo in the posting wound up getting them mocked mercilessly on social media.
The tweet, which was later deleted, claimed that keeping schools closed was “DEVESTATING.”
Are we sure that the person who wrote that tweet ever attended school? If so, did they skip the class where spelling was taught?
HuffPost notes that schools will indeed be reopened under a plan announced by the CDC:
“The CDC last week released new guidelines that should make it easier for schools to reopen, including advice that students can now sit 3 feet apart in classrooms.”
Hopefully, the young students who will soon be back in class will have better spelling skills than the GOP, which was subjected to hilarious online chiding:
Lack of education has had a devestating effect on the GOP’s ability to tweet in English

The GOP spelled “devastating” as “DEVESTATING” while talking about school closures causing problems with academic achievement.
The GOP is the stupid party. There’s no nicer way to say it. They just don’t value thought.https://t.co/WqHd2gSiqn

You know what has a “DEVESTATING” effect on mental health, social and economic situation(s), and academic achievement of America’s children???
Dead parents. Dead grandparents.
Read a book. Any book.

The stupidity of the GOP is truly “devestating” to behold.
My spell check is *devastated* that I forced it to misspell that word. https://t.co/J0EHsXiLAe

Hey @GOP, instead of trolling Democrats on Twitter, why not take online writing classes so you could learn to spell devastating.
