Donald Trump is so desperate for attention that he’s still trying to litigate the 2020 election on the same day that Capitol Police officer Billy Evans was killed by a man who rammed his car into a barricade and attacked officers on duty with a knife.
Instead of offering condolences to the family of Officer Evans, Trump went on an extended rant about how badly he’d been treated and sending a flaccid Easter message to the nation.
Here’s what Trump sent out just hours after Officer Evans died protecting the Capitol:
Trump hasn’t said a word about the Capitol attack today, but he did just put this out: pic.twitter.com/NckWkzAFVm

Other than that, Happy Easter! How pathetic and selfish can one man be? Maggie Haberman of the New York Times had this take on Trump’s statement:
News accounts all day focused on the attack at the Capitol that left a police officer dead. Many of those news accounts mentioned the Jan 6 riot of Trump supporters after he spent months claiming the election was stolen. Here is his takeaway 👇🏻 https://t.co/2bSJInOyVx

Others on social media also weighed in:
If trump was a rock band, he’d be playing Holiday Inns and State fairs right about now. Desperately recycling the oldies as the world passes him by…

Okay this man must be committed. He has lost his damn mind. Other than that it’s been a Good Friday.

Doubling down to recruit more cop killers. Special.

It totally cracks me up that he still insists on sending statements on presidential looking letterheads and says 45th President…NOT former President. I think HE thinks he is still the REAL President???😂😂😂

I have learned to make sense of this. One very simple rule — Everything that Mr. Trump says is a lie. It makes my life a lot simpler. I don’t have to try to make sense of what he says. Just one simple rule. Everything Donald Trump says is a lie.
