Disgraced former President Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani is finally being put under a microscope by the Justice Department, and legal experts agree it’s about time and that he’s in deep sh*t.
Corrupt former Attorney General Bill Barr blocked attempts to investigate Giuliani for illegally lobbying the federal government for Ukraine in exchange for dirt on Trump’s political rivals, particularly current President Joe Biden.
As you will recall, Trump was impeached for the first time by Congress for extorting Ukraine in a scheme to force the Ukrainian government to open a sham investigation against Biden and his son Hunter.
Giuliani’s behavior in Trump’s scandal has never been thoroughly probed, but that has changed thanks to new Attorney General Merrick Garland.
According to the New York Times:
Federal investigators on Wednesday seized cellphones and other electronic devices from Rudolph W. Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City who became Donald J. Trump’s personal lawyer, stepping up a criminal investigation into Mr. Giuliani’s dealings in Ukraine, three people with knowledge of the investigation said.
F.B.I. agents executed search warrants around 6 a.m. at Mr. Giuliani’s apartment on Madison Avenue and his Park Avenue office in Manhattan, carting away the electronic devices, Mr. Giuliani confirmed in a statement.
The execution of search warrants is an extraordinary action for prosecutors to take against a lawyer, let alone a lawyer for a former president. It is a major development in the long-running investigation into Mr. Giuliani, which examines some of the same people and conduct that were at the center of Mr. Trump’s first impeachment trial.
A grand jury has been impaneled and is issuing subpoenas as part of the investigation, which opens the door to other Trump officials being caught in Giuliani’s web.
Legal experts chimed in upon learning the news and they agree that the investigation is warranted and that Giuliani is in serious trouble.
Trump’s stooge Bill Barr blocked this very warrant to search for and seize evidence of Clown Rudy’s crimes on behalf of Trump. What a difference a principled and independent Attorney General makes!https://t.co/KcOIukLTbI

One more point: search warrants have to be “fresh” – probable cause means there’s reason to believe they will find something today, not that it was there weeks or months ago (altho judges tend to give prosecutors more latitude in paper cases) https://t.co/vtW4yaJa3O

I concur that Rudy Giuliani is in deep trouble

Time will tell whether they have enough to get Rudy or not, but the decision by the Trump DOJ not to go forward with this step – over the objection of career attorneys – looks even sketchier now. https://t.co/vT00duBU4g

This means that a federal judge concluded that there was good reason to believe that evidence of a federal crime exists on Rudy Giuliani’s phones and in his apartment.
Obviously, really bad news for Rudy Giuliani. https://t.co/1Hk4GWp2To

Without corrupt interference by Trump’s DOJ the Rudy investigation is moving & a judge has found probable cause to believe a crime was committed. Warrants to search lawyers are hard to get — more approvals & prosecutors move carefully. This is big. https://t.co/CvJHEErXNy

This could certainly explain why Giuliani reportedly sought a pardon from Trump in the waning months of his presidency. Now he’s just another stooge Trump left out to dry.
