Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) behaved so unprofessionally towards Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) during a confrontation on Wednesday that AOC compared her to people she used to have to throw out of bars.
Greene accosted AOC by shouting at her and demanding she engage in a debate with her before accusing her of being a terrorist sympathizer, which is laughable coming from a Trump-loving political hack who aided and supported the Capitol insurrection to overthrow democracy on January 6th and once called for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to be assassinated.
Such abuse and harassment in the halls of Congress is unacceptable, especially in the wake of the violence. Ocasio-Cortez feared for her life that day while Greene gleefully voted to overturn the election.
On Thursday, Greene continued attacking AOC, telling reporters that people “can’t call me a bully because I’m trying to talk with her about policy that will change our economy… What she is a coward and a fraud and a fake.”
Greene then tried to play the victim by claiming Democrats are lying about her and her fellow Republicans.
“Ever since Jan. 6 they can’t even treat us with respect and we were victims, too,” Greene whined. “We didn’t cause it. All these lies they say on and on and on. They need to be civil. None of them are civil to me.”
As a Democratic lawmaker recently said after Greene referred to Democrats as “the enemy,” she can shut her seditious mouth. She and 146 of her colleagues voted in favor of overthrowing democracy and incited the violence that day by lying about the election results. Now they are openly bullying Democrats in the hallways, behavior that is unbecoming of a member of Congress and should result in Greene’s expulsion from the House.
Speaker Pelosi blasted Greene’s behavior and suggested the Ethics Committee will open an inquiry.
“It’s so beyond the pale that you wonder it probably is a matter for the Ethics Committee,” she said. “It was reported to our office… the verbal assault, really abuse, of our colleague.”
Greene has been obsessed with debating AOC about the Green New Deal for quite some time now. But she doesn’t want a serious debate as much as she wants attention. There is no doubt that any “debate” would just be a circus where Greene accuses Democrats of being communists and repeats every conspiracy theory she can spew.
For her part, AOC did the right thing by walking away even though most would have cheered if she had turned around and punched Greene’s lights out. Ocasio-Cortez pointed out on Thursday that Greene reminds her of the unruly drunks she had to throw out of bars during her days as a bartender.
“I used to work as a bartender. These are the kinds of people that I threw out of bars all the time,” she said, going on to post an additional quip on Twitter.
Friendly reminder to keep generously tipping your bartenders, servers, delivery, venue, and hospitality workers. ☺️🌹 https://t.co/gjxRaNEtfe

Maybe next time AOC can use her bartender skills to throw Greene out of Congress, especially since House Republican leaders don’t have the balls to do it themselves.
