According to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), President Joe Biden is clearly not as energetic or physically fit as his predecessor because he needs five hours of sleep every night.

HuffPost notes that McCarthy was trying to compare Biden to Trump on Sean Hannity’s nightly Fox show, but things went terribly wrong:

“McCarthy was attempting to make a point about Biden’s energy compared to Donald Trump’s as he scoffed about sleep requirements.

“It’s not known how many hours a night Biden sleeps. But adults typically require seven to nine hours a night, according to the Mayo Clinic.

“’At no time, having known Joe Biden for quite some time, does he have the energy of Donald Trump,’ McCarthy told Sean Hannity on Fox News. ‘Donald Trump didn’t need to sleep five hours a night.'”

But as many on Twitter noted in response to McCarthy’s comments, sleep helps prevent dementia in the elderly and is shown to increase mental acuity. Others were sure to remind the California Republican that Trump has long been suspected of using drugs that interfere with the ability to sleep. That led to #Adderall to trend on social media within hours of McCarthy’s comments:
