Things are getting nasty over at Fox News as two of the network’s biggest primetime hosts are now engaged in a skirmish which threatens to rip the network apart or cause either Sean Hannity or Tucker Carlson to bolt Fox and take their carnival act elsewhere.

According to HuffPost, what transpired Thursday night on Hannity’s show had been building for days:

This week, New York Times columnist Ben Smith said Carlson dishes out off-the-record gossip about the network, former President Donald Trump and other topics to reporters, calling his willingness to spill tea “one of Washington’s open secrets.” Sixteen journalists at other news outlets confirmed to Smith that Carlson had been a source.

On Thursday, Smith shared a report from the Pop Bitch gossip column that one of the topics Carlson liked to dish about was Hannity “and how much of a cringing Trump sycophant Sean is.”

Apparently, Hannity reached his breaking point, and he had what can best be described as an on-air meltdown during the Thursday edition of his show when he looked into the camera and declared:

“Now the big news is that some people at Fox apparently don’t like me, and said bad things about me ― gutlessly ― behind my back, according to Ben Smith and members of the media mob.

“I’m not gonna change just because some of you don’t like me.”

It’s certainly not an exaggeration to call Sean Hannity a sycophant when it comes to Donald Trump. He’s been an eager lapdog for the former president since he first announced he’d be running for the White House back in 2015. His interviews with Trump were so fawning and subservient that there were times you wished the two would get a room and not make us all watch as they slathered each other with compliments.

But Carlson isn’t innocent in all this, either. He’s also been an apologist for Trump and the most odious policies that came from the previous administration. He’s also a smug little douche who has urged people to call child protective services on parents who make their children wear a face mask during the COVID pandemic.

If we’re very lucky, Hannity and Carlson will destroy each other and the world will be a much better place in the long run.
