Senators Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) attempted to prove their masculinity on stage with a push-up contest on Tuesday night, only to be mocked for being pathetic.
Republican men constantly feel the need to demonstrate their manhood as if they are compensating for something. And it was no different in Iowa on Tuesday when Grassley and Cotton did 22 push-ups during an event in front of voters in an effort to somehow prove that they are fit for office.
Rather than let the focus of the event be on supporting veterans, the focus ended up being entirely on Cotton and Grassley as Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), who is equally terrible at her job, counted them off.
Of course, Cotton has frequently touted his military service to the point of even lying about it, but even he couldn’t do a proper push-up.
Twitter users lit up both Republicans.
Tom Cotton and Chuck Grassley doing push-ups with terrible form.
You’d think Cotton would have had plenty of practice from his time as an army ranger.
Oh that’s right, he lied about that https://t.co/EvN6wSiCnt

If Tom Cotton really wants to impress the big, tough Republican party, maybe he should be able to do more than 22 pushups…at least Grassley has the excuse of being 87!

I was impressed by Grassley. Cotton wasn’t a Ranger. He was Ranger qualified. Big difference. Now we know why. 😂😂😂

Not a single, goddamn one of those was a correct push-up, go to the back of the line for retraining. https://t.co/B3hYswXJkK

Wtf is this ridiculous 7-th grade display of machismo? If only they made the same effort to help their constituents.

Not a SINGLE rep was actually done. Jeezus
These men would be barred from public office in Chadistan https://t.co/Jg1dg3zRaz

Push-ups do not make anyone physically qualified to serve in public office. If that were the case, Donald Trump would have failed in his bid for the White House. Like Trump, Grassley and Cotton have failed the American people time and time again, which actually does prove they are not fit to serve in office.
