Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) masterfully trolled former President Donald Trump on Thursday for remarks he made regarding the death of a pro-Trump protester who stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6 and was shot by police while trying to break into the House chamber where the 2020 election was being certified in a joint session of Congress.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Trump announced he was suing several Big Tech firms and also called the Capitol insurrection “an unfortunate event,” adding:

“There were no guns in the Capitol, except for the gun that shot Ashli Babbit. There was no reason for that.”

Pelosi countered Trump’s remarks with a press release which read:

“Twice-impeached Florida retiree — and de facto leader of the Republican Party — Donald Trump joined House Republicans today in disrespecting the Capitol Police and other law enforcement officers, who valiantly defended the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, decrying how rioters ‘are being treated unbelievably unfairly’ now that they are facing legal consequences for their actions.

“Like Donald, House Republicans have shown time and time again that they stand with traitors — not with our law enforcement.”

Twitter quickly showed its appreciation for the Speaker’s takedown of Trump:
