In yet another incendiary speech, Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) clearly attempted to incite future insurrections by right-wing extremists during an appearance at CPAC in Texas.

As you may recall, Brooks incited the Capitol insurrection on January 6th while speaking at a Trump rally, telling those in attendance that “Today is the day American patriots start taking down names and kicking ass.”

Trump supporters would go on to storm the Capitol in an attempt to overthrow democracy and install Donald Trump as a dictator.

Brooks has since been slapped with a lawsuit and is trying to blame Trump for his speech.

But Brooks used the same kind of violent rhetoric during his CPAC speech on Friday by urging conservatives to fight and die for the America they want.

“[The] choice is simple: We can surrender and submit. Or we can fight back, as our ancestors have done,” Brooks said, referencing the American Revolution. “Think for a moment about our ancestors who fought at Valley Forge. They didn’t fight the British, they fought for survival. 12,000 Continental soldiers arrived, five, six months later 2000 had died. Think about what they went through, burying your brothers, your fathers your sons, 10 to 15 a day, every day for six months.”

It’s like Republicans are trying to take ownership of the American Revolution. And Brooks’ rhetoric only became more sinister.

“That’s the kind of sacrifice that we have to think about and I ask you, are you willing to fight for America? Are you willing to fight for America? Well, the choice is simple: This is how you fight for America. This is what America needs you to do, and you as members of CPAC being here today, you’re the corps. You’re the ones that have to be the Energizer Bunny.”

This speech should be used against Brooks in the lawsuit against him and the Justice Department should investigate and prosecute Brooks for inciting violence and insurrection. It’s this very kind of language that resulted in the insurrection at the Capitol in which lawmakers could have been murdered. Police officers were brutally assaulted. People died. And Brooks should be held accountable and expelled from Congress.
