Fox News host Sean Hannity pitched a hissy fit on Twitter after reading reports that the National Football League (NFL) will begin playing the Black National Anthem along with the U.S. National Anthem prior to games this season.
According to Newsweek:
“The conservative television host was referring to a report by Front Office Sports that ‘Lift Every Voice and Sing’—written as a poem by former NAACP leader James Weldon Johnson but now sometimes dubbed the Black national anthem—would be played at games over the coming season.
“The NFL introduced the song to games as the Black Lives Matter protests erupted across the country.”
However, judging by Hannity’s tweet, you’d think the NFL had instituted mandatory playing of “The Internationale.”
DEMS DESTROY FUN: Why do the Dems have to inject politics into sports? The NFL is playing the “Black national anthem” & the Olympic committee is redesigning its flag logo. We already have a flag & an anthem! @TheLeoTerrell & @JudgeJeanine respond TONIGHT on “Hannity.”

But others were quick to remind Hannity that playing a second anthem won’t “destroy” anything and he’s being a pathetic right-wing snowflake:
How is playing the Black National Anthem taking the fun out of football?
Are people going to say, “That would have been a great game if they didn’t play the Black national anthem?

It blows my mind that conservatives are still bitching about the NFL but at the same time can’t wait until the season starts…🤷♂️

Who cares. They aren’t replacing the anthem with this one. They are just playing both. What is wrong with being inclusive?

“Inject politics into sports”? Because they are including everyone in America? How is inclusion and representation political?

They injected politics when they decided to play the anthem in the first place.

So…you’re going with cancel culture. 🤣🤣🤣

How is the Black National Anthem political and the National Anthem not? Black Americans don’t feel included when the National Anthem is played so, the morally correct thing to do is come to an agreement on what would be an acceptable solution. Is that political or moral?
