A year ago, then-First Lady Melania Trump set off a firestorm of criticism for “renovating” the White House Rose Garden, even though no one had complained about the garden which was installed in the 1960s by Jackie Kennedy, making it historically significant and beloved by the vast majority of Americans.

Presidential Historian Michael Beschloss remains upset by what Mrs. Trump did to the Rose Garden, and he expressed his disapproval on Twitter over the weekend:

Even though this isn’t the first time Beschloss has been critical of the changes Melania made to the Rose Garden, the former first lady’s office angrily fired back at him on social media:

But as others on Twitter reminded Melania, she’s the one who changed a piece of American history that didn’t need changing:
