Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) took to Twitter on Saturday morning and begged God to keep him safe, even though he had just posted two previous tweets mocking the CDC’s guidance for pregnant Americans regarding whether or not they should receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
In the CDC tweets, Rubio tried to make a joke of safety precautions, but his attempt humor could not have been more unwelcome at a time when thousands of Americans are dying each day from another wave of coronavirus:
The @CDC today urged pregnant & recently pregnant men to get vaccinated because they are more likely to get severely ill with COVID-19 compared with non-pregnant men pic.twitter.com/fJ4pZTZmhV

Also according to the CDC, recent reports have shown that breastfeeding men who have received mRNA COVID-19 vaccines have antibodies in their breastmilk, which could help protect their babies. pic.twitter.com/a1eNqwuRzr

And here’s the Saturday Bible quote:
Keep me safe, O God; in you I take refuge.
Psalms 16:1

That led to a furious backlash on social media:
Yeah, that’s the prayer of every Florida school child and teacher, who needs protection from people like you.

God sent us vaccines. Why don’t you work a little harder promoting those?— SSton (@SharinStone) August 14, 2021
Mark 12:31
Love your neighbor as yourself.
There is no other command greater.
✔️Get vaccinated
✔️Wear a mask
✔️Protect our children— Ms. Kops (@KopsMiss) August 14, 2021
Keep me from vomiting, O God, over Marco Rubio’s hypocrisy.
Amen. 🙏

But not other Americans huh Marco. Just you and your family but don’t come out strongly and tell Americans that if they love their fellow man as Jesus asks of us, to get vaccinated. No respect for you at all.

Keep me safe, O God, while I throw these countless Floridians under the bus and hope that they don’t figure out how the true depth of my inner hatred for them, or how much more I value my own political fortune than their well-being.

Sorry, Marco, but God isn’t impressed by your fake piety.
